I have a Latitude E6440 + power adapter/cable. I am considering to buy a dock for it. The dock does not come with a power adapter, Is the power adapter for E6440 the same as the docks power adapter ? Do I need to buy an extra power adapter in addition to the one I have ?

Solution
For starters you NEVER let a battery drain all the way to 0% unless you enjoy buying new batteries on a regular basis. Second, how long to charge depends entirely upon whether or not you are using the laptop while charging. If you do use it while on charge it will take several hours, maybe 4 or 5 from 10% or so, otherwise maybe 2-3. Faster if not fully discharged. 90W or 130W makes no difference to charge time (unless you foolishly use the 90W supply on the dock, in which case no charging takes place)
What specific dock are you considering? Yes, they usually require their own power connection. The laptop should draw power from the dock.

Dell docks (older ones like used with your model), are powered with a compatible laptop power supply.

Do you recommend getting the 240w power adapter for the dock ?
Can I use the dock power adapters with my laptop ?
I am also planning to buy a 97wh battery...is the 90w power adapter that came with my laptop enough for it ?
