Question Do laptops auto shut off if CPU fan isn't detected? If so, can I override this?

Laptop: http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,250,0)Electra2
OS: Windows 10

I won't go into detail about WHY i need to know this information as its not useful.

Bottom line. My laptop shuts off after a few minutes automatically if I unplug the CPU fan (not overheating, temps fine due to another external fan).

I want to know if it's possible that:

a) an automatic fail safe does exist where the laptop will shut off if no CPU fan is plugged in

b) can this be overriden

Thanks!

let me know if any more info is required

Is it just shutting off or is Windows, or other OS, powering down?

Check the BIOS for any potential settings related to CPU RPM. Many desktop motherboards have modes where the fan warning can be ignored, not sure they would bother on laptops.

Shouldn't be too difficult to wire up the RPM sensor from another 3-pin fan so that it gets a good signal.

No, the WHY is useful. So...why?

If the BIOS does not support overriding that, you'll have to DIY wire up a fan.
