I know that doing local file transfers shouldn't make my internet usage go up, but should I be worried ATT will think that im using the internet?

I'm doing a total 700GB local transfer through my router, but will ATT think that it is me using the internet? if i go above 150GB ATT charges overage.

If you were take apart most router what will find are a couple radio chips, the main processor/router, and a switch chip. Now lately they have been putting them on the same physical chip but they still function as separate units.

The traffic passing between devices in your house would only go to the switch chip. This is very similar as if you had bought a 4 port switch and hooked it to your router. Because the devices are smart enough to know they are all in the same network..ie subnet.. they know they can directly send data to one another over the switch. They would only send data to the router chip if they wanted to go outside your network...ie the internet.

Att only care about what is going outside your network.

The wireless is much more complex but you still have the internal LAN and the internet. As long as the traffic does not go to a ip on the internet it will not leave your house.

Most consumer routers are so stupid you can not even monitor or limit the traffic between the lan ports/wireless if you wanted to.
