[SOLVED] Do modern cases not come with provisions for CD rom drives any more?

Solution
So I was looking at a lot of the modern PC cases and I am finding a lot of them do not seem to have any area to mount a DVD drive,

Am I missing something here? Surely we are not yet at the point where the DVD-Blueray device has become obsolete just yet?

Fractal Design Define 7 has 1 optical drive bay. The XL has two.

USB DVD drives are fine for laptops and if a case doesn't have a drive bay, then that's the only option you have. I personally still mistrust a drive (doesn't matter if its DVD or HDD) that is connected by USB. If there's a flaky connection on the USB plug end, you're going to have a bad day...and those connectors do not last forever...

I haven’t used a DVD/Blu-Ray drive in any desktop or laptop in easily over 5 years. I have in a draw a USB drive should I ever have the need. They are obsolete to me.

We were at that exact point like 5 years ago. To be honest just get a cheap external device for the rare occasions you really want to use it.

If there's a flaky connection on the USB plug end, you're going to have a bad day...and those connectors do not last forever (already had a thumb drive die because of the USB end).

Keep in mind that some fan hubs and even soundcards have very useful 5.25" control bays also. I personally don't like how everyone is gravitating into the huge "cube box case with 2 compartments and a bunch of small slots" for the PSU, motherboard and a bunch of radiators, and 2.5" SSD's..." :/ But hey, time goes on...

Now, start attaching drives and DVD's with USB-C, I'll stop complaining.
