Do motherboards need grounding?

I’m looking at mounting a small motherboard from a EGPU on the backing plate of my GPU. Normally the stand offs are metal. Does this act as grounding for the board to the case? Can I get away with Plastic stand offs instead.

The board is small and doesn’t weight anything so not worry about the physical fixing or mounting of the board.

Cheers Chris

"Does this act as grounding for the board to the case? "
Many times....yes.

Usually you can look at where the standoff meets the board and if there is a solder pad there that would contact the standoff....then that pad needs a conductive standoff.

Would using metal stand off attach to the metal back plate of the gpu count? The gpu is attached to the case so surely that would ground the board?

Thanks for your input
