Do nitrile/latex gloves cause static electricity?

I want to wear gloves, not because im paranoid of static electricity, but because im trying to keep my PC clean and fingerprint free.

But is there any risk of inducing a static charge?

No to latex, maybe to Nitrile as long as it isn't powered. I would still wear an ESD bracelet or touch your case every so ooften to discharge any static.

I've been using nitrile gloves for a long time and have never seen them conduct static electricity. Latex gloves, on the other hand, can conduct electricity. But I vouch for nitrile gloves, in 5 years of constant use I have never noticed anything like that. I usually order my favorite nitrile gloves from this Emergency Kits website, and I recommend you try ordering them too. I also have a slight fear of static electricity, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Every person has their own cockroaches.

Sorry...but you got bad information.

You should consider any rubber glove as a potential static generator UNLESS it's specifically marked as being static safe. Wearing a wrist strap won't help with that either. Latex in particular can be bad not only as a static risk but for skin allergies.

If you can't find anti-static rubber gloves you might look for soft cotton gloves. They're used for assembly for the same reasons.

The answer I'm getting from all of these is nitrile is not that conductive, but they should be rated for ESD safe work if you want to be certain.
