As the title says,do they matter since I can't hold my finger on the southbridge more than 4 seconds how hot it is,northbridge is a bit better, can hold hand on it.I have no problems with shutdowns or any problems with the motherboard and I have it since 2011.It is Asrock M3A770DE .Thanks in advance

temps to matter everywhere on a PC but gotta remember this stuff is meant to run at a temp higher that we can even touch.

If you are really worried about it you can get a stick on heatstink and put it on there to help cool it down.

They do as any other component, however if you aren't experiencing any instability issue then those chipsets are certainly operating under their intended temperatures.

Bear in mind that many mobos use a sensor that always display a fixed temp (in my case 63ºC) as long as the temp of the chipset stays below that temp, and only reports accurately when going over that threshold, then is when one has to worry about it, your mobo might use a different sensor but most chipsets are designed to run even around 60ºC so take that as a reference to see if you need to do something about it or if it's working ok.
