Do old harddrives with windows interfere with my currect version of windows?

Hello.

I have an old harddisk lying around, and i thought about installing into my new rig, it still has the old OEM windows on it (Win 7), is it somehow gonna interfere with the version of windows i have on my currect ssd in my rig (Win8)? I dont randomly wanna boot up on my old harddrives windows.

you should be able to plug it in,start your computer and format the hdd with no problem.

windows will install the drive and let you access the files but it won't try to boot it up unless you tell it to. as aldan said, plug it in and boot it up then simply format it to use it as a data drive. be sure to copy any files from it you may want before formatting it.
