Dear Tom,

how many times does a man need to follow another and bump his head before he starts thinking that maybe he should find out himself ? You were a guiding light for many years if it came to computers and harware. I won't attack you on the mistake you made with the Gigabyte VRXP mainboard , that has been done too many times already. But I would like to share some comments on your great cooler revieuw with you and the readers. After carefull consideration and mostly reading your article on coolers I decided to spend a big chunk of change on the SILVERADO NOISE CONTROL cooler. This was the best cooler around especially if you didn't want a computer sounding like an Apache helicopter. After convincing my wife that I really needed this and this was the best around ( TOM SAID SO !! ) I got the fan and installed it instead of my $10 coolermaster. I fired up my XP 1700 and saw the temperature rocket up to 62 degrees celsius while my coolermaster managed to keep it at a very impressive 47 degrees celsius during this heatwave. After trying all the cables that came with it , I hooked it up on the heaviest setting straight on the MB.Yes my fans worked , yes the paste was applied good, yes I even tried with more airflow in my case, shortly put I tried everything around even using this cooler in another guys pc. And what does it do ? Less then a 10$ coolermaster !!! So I really was wondering now , do other physics apply to your laberatory then in our ( my ) home(s) ? I give up. After having enjoyed so many hours with you I'm going to wait of I get some reply's from this and after that is all dealt with I'll just kick you out of my favouriteslist with a little tear in my eyes.

Thanks it was nice as long as it lasted !!

Looks like you've done this sort of thing before. Just trying to help here. Did you wipe off all the thermal paste first? Did you check to make sure the fan got up to advertised speed? Perhaps the fan got dropped (guick way to wreck an electric motor). Other than that maybe Tom just got a really good one. Alot of manufactures will go to great lengths to send reviewers a better than production line product for testing.

😱 Who needs heatsinks and fans, I have an igloo 😱

Hello Pshyco ,

yes I indeed used a clean fan and it did indeed come up to the speed that it should. And I was amazed you could barily hear it I even had to put my hand in front cause I doubted that it even worked 🙂But aftere installing it in two different pc's and trying everything I'm sure that it worked as it should but just didn't manage to reach the performance that Tom claimed that it should. Thanks anyway for your sound advice I hope that you won't hasitate to give me any more in the feature !

Thanks Jorie
