Question Do PSU constantly use their advertised wattage or do they give what the computer demands?

They attempt to provide what is needed, and hopefully rarely provide the rated power or more for extended periods. If they were to provide at or more than their limit it would be better to have a more powerful unit.

What power PSU are you looking at for what sort of components?

Something i've got from someone but yeah, the system should only get the wattage it demands from the psu. At least a couple of years when the psu starts to get old.

The system will only draw the power it needs from the psu. The psu will take slightly more power from the mains supply due to efficiency losses, how much depends on how efficient the psu is.
