DO SD card readers on laptops support the same read/write speeds ?

Or are there differences ? Also, what is the maximum read/write speed I can get by buying a fast SD card and plunging it into my laptop's SD card reader ?

How will the performance be compared to a SATA2 SSD ?

The speed for read/writes will depend on the chip responsible for the hand shake between platform and the SD Card. Mind sharing the make and model of the laptop in question? Usually they are all equipped with Realtek card readers and their transfer speeds aren't phenomenal but you can look at USB2.0 speeds as a reference point.

here is the line from spec sheet:

Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC up to UHS-104 (up to 2TB) supported

that means I should buy a UHS-I SD card which operates at 104 MB/s ... right ?

Also, Is eMMC faster than SATA2 SSD ?

eMMC's max speed is 400 MB/s

SATA2's max speed is 375 MB/s

Does this mean that eMMC performs better that SATA2 SSD's ?
