Do specs matter for in-home game streaming?

So I'm thinking about getting a gaming setup in another room where I can put all my consoles but I don't particularly want to move my current PC. If I got a generic computer for low-end gaming would it work effectively for streaming games from my current computer? I wouldn't be connecting wirelessly and I'd probably be going for cheap parts, such as an i3 6100 Skylake and a GTX 750Ti.
Thanks.

which the Steam Link can also do, just stream the desktop. Plug in a mouse and keyboard and there is no difference.

I do have a steam link, but I forgot to put that I'd also be using it to interact with my main computer in general remotely.

Didn't know it could do that, I'll have to look into it.

It's in the settings, I only noticed by accident when I was trying to turn mine off one day. Basically you turn off Big Screen streaming and it will just keep streaming whatever was running under it, aka the Desktop.
