Will a 3.5" 7200 rpm hard drive benefit from being put in a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure vs a USB 3 enclosure. I'm not talking RAID, just individual drives. I know the theoretical limits of USB 3.0, 3.1, & Thunderbolt 3 but I don't know if a regular spinning hard drive would even take advantage of those speeds.

Solution
not even close. the spinning drive did not saturate the sata connection or even the ide connection they once used. take a look at the read/write speeds the drive advertises and compare that to the speeds the thunderbolt connection can hit. very small %

so no real reason to do it other than to say you did :)
