Hello i have an adsl internet connection and i currently have my modem and router located by the entrance to my house (its connected to my only telephone socket).

I would like to run a telephone extension lead to the middle of my house so the router is in the center of my house.

My question is will this effect the performance of my broadband by using a telephone extension lead?
Here is a link to the telephone extension lead: http://amzn.to/2kxA6SG

Solution
I have done what you are trying to do in the past with adsl it was a 50ft extension cord from one jack to another room running the wire under floor (basement unfinished) and it worked just fine.
Why don't you buy some actual indoor telephone wire, and open up the existing telephone jack you have and connect the corresponding color wires to the existing wires and run the new wire to the room you want. Then you can install a new outlet box and telephone jack in that room and connect the corresponding wires. That will rule out a poor extension cable.

Because as far as BT are concerned they own the masteer socket and only they or there apprived contractors are allowed to move modify or replace it

As for cables you just want something chunky with twisted pair hard wired cables are better then the plugin type

Although depending on the distance have you considered a long dsl cable?

can't in the UK your not aloud to tamper with the telephone sockets.

cable needs to be 7-10 meters long, i've drilled a hole through the wall into the next room (as i have solid stone floors) so i won't need such a long cable.

I don't know how things work in the UK, but I would think the master socket that BT owns and controls would be the box outside where the wires come into your house (here they have some sort of lightning or surge protectors), and that any jacks inside the house would be under your control. But I could well be wrong. I have done all sorts of re-wiring of telephone jacks and added new ones in my house.

About all you can do is try a regular telephone extension cable and measure your internet speeds before and after. 10 meters is not that long of a run.

I own my own house and i'm a builder so i know what i'm doing, there are just rules in the UK with telephone sockets

Nope BT owns everything up to the back of the first socket in your house
There is no sort of outside junction box the wire go straight into your house and connects to your phone socket

Thanks for your help, I will order a 10 meter cable and see if there's any difference in speeds.

Yesterday I bought a telephone extension kit from my local diy store. (http://bit.ly/2lXenp6) It only cost £4.28
I've wired it all up, setup my modem and router, it has no performance loss using the extension and works perfectly! :)
thanks for all you help!
