Hi

I am planing on getting a second gtx 980 from ebay to use in sli.

I currently own a gtx 980 reference card and I wonder whether all of the are identical or if these cards are made by different companies. If so, how can I find that out ?

Or can I just buy a second gtx 980 reference card from ebay without worrying about problems with sli?

Best

edit: if you're wondering why I don't just buy a more recent card. I have a hackintosh running, which doesn't support the 1000 series. :)

Solution

there can be "reference" models made by other manufacturers yes

that wont matter at all when doing SLI though. as long as they are the same gpu model

i.e. gtx 980 + gtx 980

the faster card will just slow down to match the slower card if there are differences in core speed etc
