Do the latest motherboard support older SATA drives

I was just curious to know whether the newer motherboards i.e. LGA1155 support older SATA drives like the 1.5Gb/s ? Are the newer mobo's backward compatible with the older drives ?

There are weird exceptions, but they go the other way. Some SATA I motherboards can't work with SATA II drives unless you jumper them to SATA I speeds. That's not your setup, though.

They _should_ be compatible, but someone goofed somewhere.
