Well, since the Vostro 3500 doesn't have USB 3.0 ports and SATA 2 already exceeds gigabit ethernet speeds, it'll pretty much never matter. The drive can read/write faster than 125 MB/s (gigabit's max speed), but the only way it can transfer data to/from another device faster than 125 MB/s is via eSATA. So the SATA2 speed limitating will only matter if you you're reading from or writing to an eSATA SSD.
