So, for the last few weeks, I've been unable to go from any browser on my Windows 10 PC to specifically and only answers.yahoo.com (where as a pasttime I answer mental health questions and engage in political back and forth). I would get the standard warning that it was unable to connect. I could connect to it from my work computer and my android phone, and could get there by going to a foreign URL for yahoo answers (e.g. uk.yahoo.answers.com).
I tried everything: clearing the cache, logging in and out, using a VPN and not using one, rebooting, checking extensions, turning off the McAfee fire wall, deleting cookies, running a virus scan, etc. Nothing worked.
Finally I went to McAfee online chat support to see if there was some sort of malware that McAfee wasn't detecting. I allowed the person at McAfee to take over my computer. The first thing they asked me was to demonstrate the problem. (They made no changes.) I went to answers.yahoo.com, and it came right up. It's been working ever since.
Any thoughts on how that could happen? Thanks.
