okay, so im thinking about overclocking the cpu to see how well it does for future use if i decide to go that rout. THe question is , if i decide to overclock the cpu in the computer, which by the way, my brothers uses this computer for strickly game play .is a overclocked cpu or whatever something that has to be baby sitted everyday to make sure all is well. My brother dosnt really know much about pcs. I just built this computer stirictlyso they can play games on it, and whatever. is it wise to overclock a cpu or whatever, if its stable even though im not going to be able to monitor that much when i move out. he knows the basic of internet browsing and stuff and i have the bios set to shut off if the cpu temps go to high. i have good memory in and lots of case fans to keep inside cool for when and if i try this. what do you think??

Show your brother how to undo the overclock in the BIOS so he can turn it back down if things become unstable.

By definition, an overclocked computer is much closer to it's limits, so over time there will be a greater chance of some sort of issue coming up as things deteriorate... dust builds up, summer time heat in the room, etc. etc.

Probably the biggest risk in leaving an overclocked computer is that you may not have it completely stable when you leave. Then your brother loads a game or some other piece of software that gags the computer. You should torture test it very well before you leave!
