Do you have to have an i7 (specificly 4770)to run more than one gpu cards efficiently? I have an i5 4670 and was wondering if it was enough.
I will be eventually getting two 760s or 770s.
Actually any PC with 2 x PCIe X16 slots will run dual cards. By efficiently, I assume you mean getting the most out of the 2 cards. Yes, almost any i5-xxxx processor is more than enough for that. But you will want to be sure the slots are at least X8, X8 bandwidth. Not X?, X4.
Yes i am sure my motherboard is compatable with dual nvidia cards, but thank you
That's not what I meant. I was referring to the bandwidth of the slots. Make sure the 2nd PCIex16 slot is not an X4 slot electrically. What board do you have?
AMD and nVidia never claimed their GPUs in XFire/SLI needs or benefits from hyper threading. If they did then I'm sure more hardcore gamers with large budgets would buy an i7 CPU.
