I want to buy a windows 10 OEM key. I have 8 GB usb but I hear people say that I need to make it bootable with rufus or something. Is this really the case?
can't I just do it with an usual usb?
I want to legally obtain my windows by the way

thanks in advance

Solution
no, you can install it via USB or DVD. the media creation tool will set them up for you. this is a legit way of installing windows 10 but in order to be legit you need to have a valid key

Thank you very much!

I will buy the OEM Key so that should not be a problem :)

Yeah when you lay down your $100 (or whatever it is), you are paying for the Product Key, you can toss the install media away. In fact I've built a few systems recently where the OEM DVD was purchased and all I used was the Product Key, I never even took the DVD out of the sleeve. Windows 10 installs much faster from USB than it does from an optical drive.

Rufus is useful in the rare times the Media creation tool USB won't work. 90% of time the Media tool version works though

Most of advice about rufus is from Aug 15 when the media creation tool couldn't make the USB or DVD, its better now.
