Do you need to use mobo sata cables?

I have been getting micro stutter and stutter in games. Im using my old mobo sata cables. Could this be causing the stutter? My new mobo came with new cables. Maybe I should try them?

...you didn't try using the new cables before asking the forum?

While it's a possibility, it's very unlikely that the cables are the issue - your drives would be constantly disconnecting and reconnecting from the PC if the cables were busted, and if there was a problem with the OS drive's cables your computer would crash.

Stutter could just be a CPU/GPU/driver issue.

I have replaced the cpu and gpu before. No fix. Im not at home so I cannot test right now.
