I’ve decided that I’m going to buy one of the MSI Gaming X Trio cards, but I’m not sure if I should get the 2070 super or the 2080 variant. I’ve heard people say that that you don’t really need the 2080 or anything above that unless you’re gaming on a 4K or ultrawide display. I’m aware that I could probably get around 10-20 more FPS in games with the 2080, but I’m not sure if it’s worth an extra hundred dollars. I’m not really into any graphically demanding games at the moment. The most graphically demanding game I play at the moment is probably doom, which still runs very well. However I’m probably not going to upgrade for a while after this (as in 5+ years) What do you guys think I should do?

Solution
rtx 2080 is really if you want 120-144hz in really modern games which are graphically demanding.
If you are only playing older or less demanding games, a 2070 will do.
For example I play War Thunder (An old, not so graphically demanding game) on my rtx 2070 at 1440p on movie settings and I get 150-200 fps
