I'm updating my CPU per all of you kind folk's recommendations (currently i5 4690k). My cpu is just not cutting it at high refresh rates and limiting my 1070ti, so I am swapping out the mobo, cpu, ram and upgrading storage. Can someone here kindly let me know if there are glaring compatibility issues or dumb choices? Nothing against ryzen but right now the cost is almost the same and the 9700k still beats out the 3700k AMD. Ordering tonight unless i hear otherwise from the community!

Looks fine tho you can get a better monitor for a lot cheaper...unless you are getting that big to have a bigger monitor and why are you getting an M.2 instead of SATA SSD? if you store a lot of files I'd get a 1-2TB HDD along with your M.2.

M2 is faster than sata ssd right? It'll be my windows main drive. I already have a 5TB hdd for file storage

As for the monitor...I got it for 700$ after taxes on prime day and I don't think there are better monitors for ultrawide curved 34 inch gsync with 120hz unless I'm mistaken.

Ryzen is a much better value. You'll only get a few fps more with intel. We're talking about a very minor difference and AMD is much better at everything else. It's nothing you'd see unless you lowered settings really far and constantly looked at an fps counter. Even doing a side by side comparison between the two it's very difficult to see the difference. AMD is perfectly fine for both content creation and also high refresh rate gaming.

I'd suggest this for a PSU:

More money, but platinum level efficiency (the gold version was only $10 less), and, more importantly, a top quality unit (I've seen the EVGA B3 described as not great, but pretty good), with double the warranty length. If you're spending that much on a new system, go with a top quality PSU.

Ok, so swap out the m.2 for an sata ssd . Any recommendations on good ones?

I concur with @AngelTech - specifically, I would go with the Samsung 860 EVO or the Crucial MX500.
