Do you still need thermal paste when you have a water cooler for your CPU?

As the title says, I am planning to build a PC with a i5 4690k CPU that has the Corsair H100i to cool it, so do I still need some thermal paste on the CPU when it already has a water cooler?

Solution
Yes, you do need thermal paste, no matter what cooler you use.

However, the H100i has paste pre-applied, so all you have to do it attach the cooler to the CPU, plug in the cables, and it will work.

the nzxt kraken x61 need thermal paste

I didnt mention the Kraken.
I said H100i, and I also said that all CPU coolers need some form of paste.

Hi I'm a little late here. I have a H105 cooler and I'm going to put it on my FX-6350 and hopefully do some decent overclocks (4.8ghz maybe) Now, I am pretty sure it comes with thermal paste, as mentioned about the H100i, but I'm considering getting AS5 or AC MX4 since they perform better. Would you guys recommend that?

The performance gain will be minimal, if any. Just use the paste that is already preapplied to the cooler it's quite decent.

If you're going for such a high overclock I would rather get a top down cooler which will cool the surrounding VRMS where as the h105 will not. If you wish to continue the discussion please create your own thread.
