Do you think 32gb RAM will be necessary for games in 5 years?

I'm trying to decide if I should spend another $65 and buy a second 16gb DDR4 stick.

The standard amount of RAM nowadays is 8GB, and most of the games don't require that much. You should wait as DDR4 prices will drop with time and 16GB will become standard in long term (maybe in 1 year or 2), but 5 years from now is something no one can tell.

Don't mix different kits...can cause issues, although should be fine at rated speeds.

Id say we are in the 16gb era now for total system ram ideally, although I'm fine with 8 in all games. 16gb will be fine for normal rig for a few years yet.

I don't think that's out of the question. However, I wouldn't buy hardware for the distant future.
