Plenty poor quality units out there that misrepresent what they can do - just as many poor quality units that might be fine initially, but are not known for longevity.

as mentioned above, don't get a cheap/poor quality unit if you can avoid it. the 1060 is a very power efficient and cool card and should work fine with a 500w PSU, just make sure it has the proper 8/6 pin connections

Hmm i just put my 1050ti in also its a evga 500w 80plus not really sure other then that, but it didnt shut off for like 2 hours compared to 5mins into the game
