Do you think upgrading from a GTX 1070 to a future Vega card will be worth it?

I have a GTX 760 now, I plan on buying a free sync 1440p monitor in the future. I can afford to buy the gtx 1070 right now and I'm tired of waiting for the aftermarket rx 480s to come out and be in stock so I figure why not just buy the 1070. I want to eventually buy a Vega card to match up with my free sync monitor that I'll own but I'm not sure whether the Vega cards plan to compete with the 1070 or will be much better than them to where it makes sense to upgrade from a 1070 to a Vega.

What do you guys think

I think you are making the right choice even though it doesn't support your free sync monitor. The GTX 1070 is a much better fit for 1440p than a RX 480. As you can see from this chart the 1070 averages 77.4 FPS at 1440p while the 480 averages 50.2.

Using the RX 480 at 1440p is doable but you are going to have to make compromises in your settings pretty often to do so. If I was going with a RX 480 I think...
I been waiting for a month for these aftermarket 480s to drop I'm just tired of waiting. AMD blew it imo, I'm giving my money to Nvidia.

if the Vega cards are good enough I'll sell my gtx 1070 and buy a Vega

right now we don't even know where Vega performance will land. but instead of 1080 AMD should be looking at nvidia GP102. they should think about making something that is even faster than nvidia new titan x instead of 1080. and nvidia still have room to increase the performance further if they want to. personally i think Vega will not coming out until HBM2 is ready for AMD to do massive launch.

What do you mean "tired of waiting"? The 480 came out, what, less than a month ago?

Nothing wrong with using your 760 if you want a 480, just wiat and see what's on the market later.
