Do you use MSI Afterburner

Additional optional questions

Do you always use when gaming? If not, then how often do you use it?

What data? resources? values? things? are you watching such as CPU or GPU temp, memory or VRAM usage, fan speed etc..

Do you use it to overclock your GFX card?

Are there better monitors out there that you can use inside a game or Windows?

Finally

Did you build your own PC?

I only use it for overclocking the GPU and monitoring CPU, GPU, SSD and UPS power draw of the system and display panel during gaming. This is what I track:

Yes, I did build my own system.

Do I use MSI-A, yes.
Every now and then if the cubby my pc sits in feels a tad warm, elevated temps in the same gaming pattern means its time to clean.
What do I monitor? Kudos to ko888, he posted my list for me.
No, I have an Asus strix 970 and use Asus gpu software, version 2.
Better? That's a matter of opinion. I have a nzxt Kraken X61, so use the CAM software for controlling my fans etc. It includes a game overlay that's got minimal invasiveness, cpu/gpu temps, cpu/gpu loads and fps. For me, that's better, doesn't fill up half the screen or overlay maps, info, shooters etc. In Windows, I use realtemp, has a nice little number that's permanent resident in the start bar.
Yes, all my pc's are built by me since 1992? except for a Dell P4 I picked up 2nd hand 10 years ago.

I've used both Asus GPU Tweak and MSI Afterburner to overclock my 970FTW. After I saw a ~30 minute video detailing step by step instructions for overclocking for a 970 or 980 I've been using Asus GPU Tweak. It was one of the most in depth overclocking videos that helped me to understand overclocking more than I had before. I used Rivatuner to personalize the text and positioning of MSI's OSD. All was good. Still needed the video for the steps. Then Asus took it down, their channel and the videos connected to it:pfff:. Many other fish in the sea...

GT II is pretty decent. You can set different profiles or even use simple version for a few factory OC. Right now I'm sitting stable at 1523/7992 @1.212v which boils down to a 122% OC. I can't complain about that and was easy to use. Easier than the original gpu tweak.
Most of any issue I have with Afterburner is its complexity. It's not entirely user friendly, it just does so much

What's your 970's co-pilot? Which monitor or TV do you use? Its refresh rate? What sort of FPS gain have you seen with that overclock with which games? Vsync always on or off?

I run dual Asus VE248Q 1920x1080 60Hz monitors. I've seen gains of anywhere from 10-@50 fps, depending on the game and settings. CS:GO I get roughly 300fps for example, at max settings. Running stock clocks I see about 260. Minecraft is off the charts.
As for v-sync, that depends. I only use in game v-sync, not monitor bound, and will lock v-sync for the slower games at 60, like GuildWars 2 or skyrim, which seems to allow for max anti-alias etc better without the normal jitters or tearing.

I also run my 660ti maxed out and according to others online posting, was pulling in fps numbers better than a stock gtx960 in everything except tessellation x64.

Is there a bonus to using Afterburner or other gpu OC software? Naturally. Any card that can run faster, will show higher numbers. But not all cards OC the same, or can reach the same limits. My card is a DC20 version, usually does better than the DC2,, but will have a hard time competing with an Evga FTW or MSI Gaming 4G

Co-pilot? Lol

My apologies😀.

CPU?

Sorry. I found it. The 3770.
