Hello. Do you use additional layer of defense against viruses along with your antivirus software? What is your opinion on buying additional tools for better protection? are they advisable or useless?

Not necessary.

Windows Defender/Security does a very good job overall.

With some occassional "backup" by Malwarebytes (free).

And, has often been stated throughout various posts herein, common sense, careful browsing habits, and disciplined downloads are key to protecting systems and data.

For personal use I find it unnecessary. For enterprise an XDR solution is desirable and includes some form of endpoint security to be able to act on the endpoints to respond to incidents.
