Question DoA or fried your thoughts please

So I got i9 10900k, msi mag z490 tomahawk, hyper x ddr4 3000mh, m. 2 nvme 1tb < new parts / I already have corsair hx850w psu, rtx 2080, nzxt x72 put it all together no gpu to update bios, we did do is put the 8 pin cpu power and 4 pin power cpu in, it turn on 2 secs then powered off now I have zero power all together won't turn on, took all non essential wires and component out no power, took cpu out to try get post no power turns out the 4 pin is for over clocking we think we my have over powered the board what's your thoughts guys?
The psu has been tested and I have powered the water cooler also, also works fine tho I have sent the motherboard back I read here

That maybe the cpu can be the culpret ill be getting a new motherboard soon

You didn't 'over power' the board. It will only draw what is needed.
Give us an update when the new board comes in.

It's not the power cables I have that board with a 10600K with both plugged in.

I would check the back of the board for a burnt run, CPU socket bent pins, or a stand off in the wrong spot in the case.

The stand off was fine I was swapping an ATX for an ATX so no issue there.

An we did check for any burnt runs and any defect on the board and we found nothing and no pins was bent, if there was retailer would not have accepted the board back before return, made me take a picture

But yeah soon as I get that email for accepted refund I'll order a new board next day delivery on amazon cba to wait now, I'll update you guys, retailer emailed me and its in testing should hear back in the next 3 to 5 days hope's sooner

Well I have had enough of waiting and sitting around not being productive, so I have ordered a new Mobo on amazon if ebuyer come back an says it isn't faulty then I can still get refund £10 charge, new board here tomoz hope it isn't the cpu now at this point its the only thing that can cause the issue I am having at this point, new board is £2 cheaper but better board so I only loose out on £8 if I have to pay the charge

I have gone a week without my pc now, I'm going nuts lol

Right got new board msi gaming edge WiFi got it all in working os installed OK shut down plug gpu in now, now it won't do anything won't post, all I get is a flash of a grey msi box then black nothing at all from them



Yes I have reset the bios, I have taken out the card and the same thing now happens on the on board, power's supply is 850w, gpu is 2080 cpu up top ^^^

How did you get the OS installed? Do you have a secondary GPU?
Does the board work with a different GPU but not with the 2080?
