DOCSIS 3.0 modem for use with landline (replacing Arris TM502g).

I'm being prompted by Comcast to upgrade my modem (for free! supossedly) to DOCSIS 3.0.

I have a bundle and thus, have a phone line going into my Arris TM502g.

After wasting money for years, I would rather just buy my own 3.0 modem and save money a year down the line.

I have the "Blast!" speed package (what is that even at?) and do play a FPS game online.

I was looking at (and almost ready to order) a $90 Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem on Amazon when I realized there's no phone jack on it.

I found a post somewhere that stated I would need a $125
ARRIS / Motorola SURFboard Gateway SBG6580 DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless N Cable Modem?

Is this right? What is the cheapest DOCSIS 3.0 modem that i can use with a landline that has good reviews on longevity/reliability?

I think comcast still does not let you own modems that have telephone ports and they may require that you have THEM ie pay install it. Been a while but help a friend put his in and it was more cost effective to go to a VoIP solution rather than the voice over cable bundle crap.

You can purchase a an Arris 822g through best buy via the comcast.com website. Best Buy is authorized to sell them. Only recently has Comcast allowed you to buy them. It is a stand alone modem, no wifi.
