I have WoW for internet service and the Arris MG5225G Gateway which also has our DVR hard drive and 6 tuners for the DVR and a Netgear Switch GS308. According to WoW, that gateway cannot be placed into bridge mode. I have 4 XB1s on my network that is hooked up to the switch. We are having problems with the NAT Type being strict.

My question is if I purchase a Docsis 3.0 modem, how do I go about hooking up the Gateway? I did think that I could split the cable line and install a cable line into both the modem and the Gateway. I was thinking of getting this router which I would hook up to the Docsis 3.0 modem, ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router. I would have to shut off the wireless on the Gateway of course.

I can't find much info on this MG5225. If it is modem + router style of device (which are often referred as "gateways"), then you have to find out whether you can bypass the modem part, and use router part only. If that's not possible, you will have to look whether you can disable routing functions of that gateway at all, and use only for media. You will need a router in addition to the modem if you go this route.
