Dodgy Video Card?

Hi,
I have noticed recently that when I play games no matter what spec the game is I always recieve some kind of video lag. My assumptions is some kind of rendering lag. It is very hard to notice but I do, it is literally 1/4 of a second that it last for and it seems to occur on a new map that I haven't played for a while or specifically on Killingfloor when a new wave of zombies has spawned. I thought at first maybe a bottleneck but I have been told my system is well balanced and shouldn't show any signs of this that are noticeable.

Specs are in the More info under my name thanks I'm planning on replacing my radeon 5770 from sapphire with a 6950 and a new psu. As I have thought that my card has never been right from day one. It has always had little niggles so it will be interesting to see when I buy from a different vender!

well,it might be your psu, but I doubt it. Have you installed new memory, or any new components lately?

hmmm its possible you need to defrag, what hdd do you have? i had this problem on my old 320g ide

hmm, i dont even know if this can happen when you unlock a cpu core. i honestly dont have any experience in the matter but ill throw this out there anyway. have you tried gaming with 3 cores, and 1 of the 2 that you unlocked turned off? then the other one. can a faulty core cause anything like you are describing? without being answered i want to say no but i havent looked into it, so there you go. maybe someone can answer me, because now im curious

I have recently upgraded from 4gb *** cheap ram to 8gb xms kit but the problem existed before as well!

It was the same when the cpu was stock as a dual core, I'm pretty sure it is something to do with the gfx card as in furmark it is extremely obvious when I tried that!

okay, well it might be you HDD like mouse said. Your GPU most likely isn't the problem, but to check, if your mobo has a chipset, set that to the main in the bios and see if anything changes.

Sorry set to the main? What do you mean by that?

in your BIOS there should be an option to set your display to a PCIE or a chipset.

Oh yeah its definatley set to pcie, I doubt bad company 2 would run off the chipset 😛

no, set it to your chipset and test out any game, not necessarily GPU intensive, like tf2, or something and set the graphics to low. If it runs for longer than what it normally does, it's your GPU, if not, it's something else.

Well, maybe tf2 was a bad example, something like Dungeon Siege; the min specs are Pentium 2 333Mhz CPU, 128Mb RAM and almost any 3D video card. try that.
