Does 1600mhz ram work on 1333mhz motherboard?

I have a motherboard support 1066mhz and 1333mhz ram but does it work on 1600mhz ram?

technically 1600 ram if you put it in a motherboard that can support only 1066 or 1333, the ram should (sometimes it doesn't work in rare occasions) down step and function at 1333Mhz

DDR3-1600 will fit in DDR3 slots. If motherboard only supports DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333, plugging in a DDR3-1600 RAM would only run at slower DDR3-1066 or DDR3-1333 speeds.

None. I use a DDR3-1866 (check my specs) and my board only supports DDR3-1600. The RAM runs/works at 1600MHz (not 1866MHz).
