Does (3.0x16) pci GPU work on 2.0 x16

hello there ,
am planning to get an MSI 7970 Twin Frozr edition
as i saw that the card works on PCI 3.0 x16

my mother board (MSI P67A -C43) has 1 PCI Express 2.0 x16

so will i be able to run the card with the same performance ?

The card will work but only at 2.0 x16 bandwidth, no games currently uses that speed but will certainly in the future
