Does a 4-pin AIO Pump need a 4-pin header?

I'm getting a masterliquid 240 and I need the pump to ideally plug into the 3 pin chassis header on my mobo.

Just wondering if it will work, or whether I should just get a molex adaptor to plug directly into the psu.

(extra: I plug my aio fans into the cpu header right?)

Whats your motherboard? You should have the appropriate headers. The fans connect with the splitter usually to the CPU fan header and there's usually a dedicated header for the pump.

I have an asrock ab350m pro4 which has only 1 cpu header, 1 pwm fan header, and 1 3-pin fan header. There is no CPU_OPT/pump header

Ahh I get ya-in this case you can connect the rad fans to the CPU fan header and the pump to any of the other 2 fan headers but make sure you change the settings in BIOS for the pump header to operate at full capacity. Otherwise you can use a molex to 3 pin adaptor and hook it straight onto the psu.

just to be clear, am I able to connect the 4-pin pump to the 3-pin chassis fan header?

Yep as the 4th pin is used purely for PWM control-just make sure that the header is set to run at max in the BIOS.
