Does a fast sata iii ssd speed up the computer

If I out in a Intel G860 CPU and an Intel 128GB 520 SATAIII series SSD
will it be faster than and I 7/2600 with a 5400 RPOM drive
in stabdard office apps ?

i would think so. office apps arent a huge demand on the cpu and since there is a huge difference in speed between the two drives this would be the determining factor.

the ideal setup would be the i7 2600k and the 128gb ssd though.
