Hi!, I´m using integrated intel graphics and I wonder if installing a graphic card would increase overall pc speed, specially for video and photo rendering/editing. For games I know a graphic card is a must, but I rarely play games in my pc, so I would not buy a graphic card if I woulnd´t notice any change except for playing games. I´m using an intel i5 4570 and its integrated graphics with a gaz87m3dh 8gb DDR3 1600mhz and a full HD monitor system, Thanks for your answers

On average the speed up on a 45 second render would be 1-3 seconds maximum with a dedicated GPU. Not enough to fall with in your margin for performance but the SSD will help some with this. Not a lot mind you but some not to mention the whole system speed up you will get with an SSD.

I´m currently using Sony Vegas pro 12 for videos and DxO OpticsPro 10 for photo editition

thanks for the input, does this improvement justify buying this graphic card or the difference is too small to consider it??

If I am not mistaken, Intel incorporated in to there CPU's in the 4000 series the ability to use the iGPU to help with Video and photo tasks. This was a big boost for them against the AMD 8 core CPU's in this area. While this did help with coding and decoding video and image content a GPU is still faster with its dedicated memory in the same work loads.

Is the amount of speed up worth the price? Well this is a very subjective question. The main 2 things to consider is: how much work like this do you do and how much is your free time worth to you?

Over time the GPU will save time, there is no question about this, But is that saved time worth the cost of the GPU and possibly a PSU? A $100 USD GPU will do the job for you and if you go for a GPU like the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti it can run on a 400W PSU and does not need a n extra PCI-E power connector. This way may save you from needing to replace the PSU if you have a low wattage PSU.

I´m not a professional, but I edit a lot of self made raw pictures and some 1080p videos, overall I´m pretty satisfied with the iGPU but if I can improve the rendering times by, maybe 20, 25% I would consider a dedicated GPU, if not I might save the money for a new SSD, my psu, seasonic 400w, I think, can handle any of the graphic cards you mentioned

I already have a 120g SSD, I just would like a bigger and faster one, anyway, thank you all for your inputs, I think I will wait for now, the advantage of a dedicated GPU for this doesn´t seem too significant and the iGPU speed is still acceptable
