Does a monitor need to be HEVC (H.265) and VP9 compatible to be able to play HEVC and VP9 content?

hdcp2.2 you need the whole chain to be compliant. You need the software to be compatible for the codec's but that's easy, and it's nice if your hardware supports hardware decoding.

I was thinking the same for HDCP 2.2 but just wanted confirmation, but I have no idea if the same applies to HEVC and VP9.
