Does a motherboard have a Vram Speed limit?

I ordered a graphics card recently with some rather high Vram speeds and I was wondering if motherboards limit Vram speed. I already know that they do limit regular ram, but is that another factor to keep in mind when purchasing graphics cards? My motherboard is a Pc Mate z97

Solution
The speed of the VRAM does not affect the other components directly, as all communications with the graphics card take place through the PCIe interface.

If it helps, you can think of the graphics card like a separate computer. It has its own processor, ram, and VRM.

So essentially as long as the card is for the correct pci-e version, its fine? Thankyou very much, this gives me a little more piece of mind.

It doesn't even have to be that. PCIe is backwards compatible, so PCIe 3.0 cards will still run in a PCIe 2.0 slot. So long as it is the right slot type and it fits in your case, you are generally good to go.

Wait, I thought backwards compatible meant that a 2.0 card could work in a 3.0 slot, not the other way around.

Both ways will work

EDIT: I am running an XFX RX 580 GTR-S on an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 as we "speak"

Thankyou for the clarification! :)
