Does a ryzen 5 1600 fit in the gigabyte B550 gaming motherboard, I read on some websites it does on some not too so I came onto here to ask if it does or does not

the exact motherboard name is B550 Gaming X V2 (rev. 1.x)

Solution
That would be a specific model name. Yes, only 3000 series and 5000 retail chips, and the 4000 series OEM chips, are supported on that board.

If you were to get something like the B450 Gaming X V2, it would support a Ryzen 1600, and allow you to upgrade to a 5000 series chip later.

Would need a specific motherboard model name, but in general I don't think so. Pretty sure it would only be 3000 series CPUs and up. Certainly plenty of B450 boards that stop supporting older CPUs when the BIOS is updated.
I don’t kno the specific motherbaord model name but if u type in this B550 Gaming X V2 (rev. 1.x) it’s the first one

It will fit physically, but likely not POST. B550 officially only supports Ryzen 3000 and up, and does not support Ryzen 1000.

Some users have reported B550 motherboards working with older CPUs, however this is likely hit or miss. Even if it did post it may have stability issues or other issues.
