I have a second desktop computer I'm getting ready to sell a co-worker that has a SSD as the boot drive, and also has a 1TB HDD for storage purposes. I'm planning on reformatting the SSD to reinstall Windows 7 Professional, and the question is; do I have to reformat the secondary drive as NTFS (or FAT32 or exFAT) before I can add folders for videos, photos, etc.? I'm mildly baffled as to how I can get that done. Thank you, guys!

Solution
Unless the HDD isn't in a file system which Win can't read (e.g ext4, used by GNU/Linux), there is no reason why to format it. Unless you want to clear the drive fast from (personal) data.
