I was trying to overclock my 955 BE through overdrive a few minutes ago. I set all the cores to 17x multiplier (from stock 16), and the table above said this- Target speed 3400MHZ/ current speed 800 mhz- then 2100mhz-then 3200mhz, but never 3400! And before anyone comments of what i just said, i know that cool n quiet makes the cpu go down to 800mhz, but thats only when your basically idle. So i noticed that even though i had the option select all cores checked, i could only edit cores 1, 2, and 3. When i unchecked it and changed core 4's multiplier i got to 3400mhz for a little, then when i tried to run a stability test in overdrive , it only ran at 3.2ghz! So i hit apply settings again just to make sure, and the system froze and i had to reboot.

I didnt buy a black edition for nothing... What do i do??

PS: more info on my overclocking problems at my other thread "help with amd overclocking"

I used Overdrive last night for the first time on my Phenom II X3 710, and it bumped me up from my 2.8 Ghz OC to 2.88, which is nothing to write home about. I don't know jack about OCing, so I used the Overdrive to see what would happen. Using a stock fan and not touching the cpu voltage, I couldn't get it above 2.9 with stability, but I plan on purchasing a Katana 3 pretty soon and seeing if I can't ramp this thing up to the low 3 Ghz range (once I get a better feel for OCing, that is).

+1 on that.... my 680i died in 4 months and it took 2 months to get a new board from EVGA..... then the second board died in less than a year with mild overclocks..... So i got fed up and switched to AMD and to this date it has been all butter.....

But you have to consider that OS's board has been through hell and back......lol....

Here is why I will NEVER buy an evga product again...out of 4 RMAs, they have never once honored their warranty. 3 bad MBs, each time they claimed "damage", but could not tell me what was damaged by user error because there was none (these are all x58 boards that were bad out of the box)...one gtx295 video card they claimed they would RMA...I even got a shipping confirmation that it was delivered , but it was sent to someone in another state that has nothing to do with me. Been on the phone with them 6 times since then, every time they promise they will ship another one out to me, and here we are months later and sill no video card. Bottom line, I wouldn't buy another EVGA product even if they cost half of what everyone else charges. What good is a lifetime warranty if they don't honor it?
