Hi guys,
I have an old SHARKBAY motherboard, model NOK with a 4th gen processor.

I wanted to upgrade my GPU, but since my system is old, I quickly realised that I would need to upgrade my PSU and motherboard as well.
The only thing I won't upgrade is my CPU, but now I have a new dilemma, does the AMD RX 6400 can go well with my current processor, gen 4 intel i5-4570 ?

Issue isn't with CPU, but instead with MoBo.

On your MoBo, you have PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot, right?
RX 6400 is PCI-E 4.0 x4 GPU. While PCI-E 4.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-E 3.0, the main issue is that the GPU is using only 4 lanes. In your system, that would translate into 50% performance, and not 100%.

GPU still does work, but only with half of what it is capable of. Moreover, RX 6400 is poor GPU to begin with. It falls in-between GTX 1630 and GTX 1650.

But if your MoBo has PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot, GPU works only 25% of what it is capable of.

Yes I know, I said I'm going to upgrade my MoBo, since I have an old, 14 pins plug MoBo. The new one will have the requiered PCI-E GPU slot.

My question was rergarding my current CPU, which is 4 gen, and it's compatibility with a graphic card.

BTW, I don't need a super advanced graphic card since I don't play the heavy graphics games anyway, not do I wish to pay a lot for one.

It's a rubbish GPU.
RX6600 is your best bet.
It will bring you MASSIVE uplift in Performance.
At 1080p there could be some relatively significant bottleneck, but at 1440p probably not.
In any case even if there will be,it will be worth it and someday when you decide to significantly upgrade your CPU as well,RX6600 will wait for it to unleash its full potential.

I own a RX 6400, it is a good budget GPU for use at 1080p, and will play a huge number of games at usable FPS. I use it for 'No Mans Sky' and its fine. If you buy a Mobo with PCIE 3 graphics slot it will work, although its designed for PCIE 4, it is backwards compatible with PCIe 3 slots. You will lose about 10% graphics performance (3 frames in 30!). If you don't play heavy games there is no need to spend £££ on a better one.
Also, the 6400 does not need a PSU with graphics connections as its powered from the PCI slot.
Considering if its a good match for your processor is entirely dependant on what application/game you are going to use/play.

We are sentimental towards products we have.
We also want to justify our investments to ourselves.
6400 is worth 80$ maximum in my opinion.
At that price it mighr be decent purchase.
Maybe.
RX6600 on PC partpicker say 200$ cheapest.
There were istances of 190,perhaps even 180.
Microcenter isn't listed there.
Plus there might be some other local deals in some smaller merchants not listed there.

Although I highly dislike used market,if he cannot afford 200$,he should search there.
RX6400 was a piece of garbage when it arrived and is piece of garbage now.
IF you are happy enough with it,I am happy for you,but please inform yourself before recommending it to others.
RX6600 provides probably 100% uplift in Performance.
Or very close to it.

*Removed by mod* The question 'Is the 6400 suitable for his CPU' not what is the best GPU for the money. I don't need to justify my purchases as I am an ex-IBM hardware engineer and bought the card for a specific purpose which it fulfils brilliantly. I doubt you have ever used a 6400 so how can you possibly comment. The card got bad press at release because reviewers made the same mistake as you in not taking into account what it is useful for. It now sells extremely well. The RX6600 may well be faster but also at least twice the price which is not what the poster asked and not what he or she wanted. The user is obviously working to a budget which the RX6400 represents good value for money rather than buying a dodgy second hand non-bargain card maybe used for mining without warranty.

It's not twice the price.
I used RX580 4GB.
It's as strong if not stronger than 6400.
people buy it out of ignorance.
Especially when 6400 is used on PCIE3.0 boards.

6500XT which is also crap at its price is just 20$ more expensive.

Well,I said my piece.
I won't go into it further unless someone asks me something directly
