Hi guys,
I'm planning to build a new desktop and planning to get the new AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.. but I can't seem to find a motherboard that allow to use this cpu, but support "TRIPLE CHANNEL" memory ram like Intel..

Does triple channel is ONLY FOR INTEL????

Is triple channel mode significantly faster than dual channel or only by a margin??? If it is really faster.. i guess going intel would be a better move?

No, you wouldn't notice any difference at all between dual channel and triple channel RAM when gaming.

It looks like somebody needs to do some more research before offering advice about RAM in the forums.

The difference between running in dual channel and triple channel with ddr3 isn't just speed. It's the memory bandwidth too. For example, in dual channel you are running your mem at 128 bit bandwidth, in triple channel you are running your mem at 192 bit bandwidth. Basically your pushing more data thru the pipes in triple channel than in dual channel.

for example i'm able to push thru more data thru the cpu to get things accomplished faster.

running this vm which was using 4.6gig of mem at the time in windows while using IE8 in windows 7 folding Extremely Large WU's for Folding@Home.

is what I was able to accomplish, and the cpu was running at 3.2 ghz I7-920 with 3x2gb running at 1600fsb.

I am in school and were supposed to "build" a computer for $875. one of the requirements is to have triple channel memory. I believe that the only sockets that support at least triple channel are 1366 and 2011(quad channel) right? CPUs for these are limited and very expensive. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
