does an hdmi to vga converter work properly?

i have an old monitor which just has vga support and i assembled a new gaming rig with-
GPU-gtx 1060 3gb

which has an hdmi port and 3 display ports(no vga)

i dont have funds to buy a new monitor.

what can i do in such case...will any converter work properly so that i can use my old monitor only.

please guys suggest me a way out

HDMI and DisplayPort are digital outputs. If you had a DVI-I port you could use a simple adapter, but if not then I would suggest a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.

Don't even think about connecting them. If you have a 1060 you can get cheap screens from ebay or sell the 1060.

^ the active adapters work fine, they gave a DAC circuit onboard which actually converts the digital signal to analog.

It MUST be an active converter you buy though , not a standard HDMI to VGA adapter (because you'll just get a black screen & no signal)

considering that i only have to do gaming and i only have a single monitor(supporting @720p max resolution) to play on.Will an active hdmi to vga converter be best for me or an active display port to vga converter??????

^ no difference between the two - whichever is cheaper
Displayport supports higher res & bandwidth over HDMI - when you're converting to VGA though this becomes entirely unimportant.
