Hi,

Does an overclocked CPU always run at the overclocked speed?
(for example, overclocked 3570k to 4.6 ghz, does it always run at 4.6 ghz then?)

(I haven't overclocked yet, just a question out of curiosity)

Thanks :)

Sometimes no, but you can get it to. If Speedstep is on, it will throttle the multiplier when not under lead. Also, some boards like to throttle the BCLK if your VTT isn't high enough, don't ask me why. But it is possible to make it run at the advertised setting, +/- 10MHz, like Jonathan Sifleet said.

Completely stock.

3.4ghz handling apps without a serious load but not idling
3.8ghz turbo boost under serious load
1.6ghz just idling

No, It will clock itself down if you leave speedstep on.

I'm OC'd to 4.7GHz.
