I just got my Chromebook running Gallium OS, and since the SSD in the thing is so tiny (all of 32GB), I'm looking into getting a portable USB external drive casing so as to use one of the spare SSDs I have lying around as storage for it. But the question needs to be asked; does the SSD need to have Gallium on it to this end? I've already formatted it to EXT4, now does it need an actual OS on it for what I need it for or no?
