Does anyone know how I can unlock a Samsung Galaxy S5 locked to Virgin for free?

One way would be to ask your current carrier to unlock it. Depending on your contract, they might decline your request. There are other ways to do this, but I don't know if they're allowed by the rules. The forums at xda-developers.com are probably a better place to ask about this.

how long do you have this phone yet? Is it a net sim lock or provider sim lock?
If it´s a net lock, you could just use another sim card from another phone company which uses the same net as virgin.
